“My Love” is the hit single co-written by Justin Timberlake, T.I., Nate Hills and Timbaland for Timberlake’s second solo album FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006). It won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Despite the huge commercial success and relatively recent release of the album’s first single “SexyBack”, radio stations in various cities across the U.S. began spinning the cut in mid-August 2006. In a similar fashion to “SexyBack”, Timbaland contributes limited background vocals to the song, and the song also features a rap verse from T.I. In the chorus part, Justin says “My love”, while Timbaland says “So don’t give away”. Reception of the song has been very positive, with many fans and critics preferring it over “SexyBack.” The song received a rare 5/5 star rating from Pitchfork Media and was subsequently named their number one song of 2006.[1] Justin performed “My Love” and “SexyBack” as a medley for the opening of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. He performed it as well as a medley in the opening of the European Music Awards, which he also hosted. He once again played the song on Saturday Night Live.

Timberlake became the first male artist since Usher in 2004 to have two consecutive number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. My Love became Timberlake’s second number one single on the Hot 100, and T.I.’s first. “My Love” and its predecessor both took eight weeks to reach the top. It was the first #1 on the Piczo Top 50.

“My Love” is Justin Timberlake’s second top 10 single in a row in the Latin America Top 40.

In the iTunes Music Store, there are alternative versions of the single cover. The spot in the cover are different and have several versions of the song.

The music video, directed by Paul Hunter, premiered on October 12. It includes the prelude to the song (Let Me Talk To You) which features the song’s (and album) producer Timbaland. At the beginning it shows Timberlake in what seems to be a studio filled with white bars of light dancing with one of the many girls in the video. Then it goes on to show Timbaland and Timberlake rapping the prelude. Afterwards, the screen turns white and shows a distant Timberlake rotating coming towards the screen. He stops rotating once he is straight and starts singing the first verse. At random points in the video, the screen will change colors from black to white and show Timberlake with his dancers (the same ones who helped him out at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards), and different girls he seems to be singing the song to. While Timberlake is standing still in random parts of the video, the object he is talking about in the verse will start floating past him towards the screen. One example is when T.I. is rapping in front of a black screen, rubberbands start to float past him through the air towards the screen, which refers to his nickname as the “Rubberband Man” that he and his fans had given him. Other examples are the start of the first verse, Timberlake sings “If I wrote you a symphony”, while having violins float past him toward the screen, and the start of the second verse, Timberlake sings “If I wrote you a love note”, while sheets of paper and black pens float past him toward the screen.

There are three versions of the video. The first version released was the “Let Me Talk to You/My Love”, which is 6:12. The second version is “My Love” album edit only. The last re-edit version is the “Let Me Talk to You/My Love” with a shortened interlude in the video

The Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards) are presented annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States for outstanding achievements in the record industry. The President of the Academy is Neil Portnow. It is one of four major music awards shows held annually in the U.S.; the others are the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. However, the Grammys, usually held in February, are considered to be the U.S. record industry’s equivalent to the Academy Awards (or Oscars) for motion pictures. The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Nominations will be announced on December 6, 2007.

The awards ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and some of the more prominent Grammy Awards are presented in a widely-viewed televised ceremony. Of the “big three” music awards shows, the Grammys are the highest rated.

As of 2006, the eligibility period for the Grammy Awards begins October 1. For example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s album Double Fantasy was released in November 17, 1980, a month and 16 days too late to qualify for the 1981 Grammys; it was entered for the 1982 awards and eventually won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. This is a few months earlier than the Oscar calendar, which has had interesting results. For example, the movie Ray won the 2005 Oscar for Best Achievement in Sound but won the 2006 Grammys for Category 80 - Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media and Category 81 - Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media (i.e., best soundtrack and best score).

The Grammy Awards are currently broadcast on CBS. Prior to the first live Grammys telecast in 1971 on ABC (CBS bought the rights in 1973 after moving the ceremony to Nashville, Tennessee; the American Music Awards were created for ABC as a result), a series of taped annual specials in the 1960s called The Best on Record were broadcast on NBC.

The awards were held for several years at the Shrine Auditorium, known as the home of the Oscars and its famous red carpet, however due to the increase in categories and attendance it was moved to the Staples Center. Non presenting attendees and nominees must pay to attend the event, however, the fee is traditionally covered by the record label. A separate paid ticket is required to enter the official post party which is in addition to the ticket price. For 2007, tickets started at $750 for members, climbing to $2,500 per person. Anyone attending the official Grammy party pays $250, however attendees receive a gift bag with considerable “swag”, which is, in industry parlance, “free” goods. This can include anything from perfume, gift certificates, jewelry, CDs and more, usually in an event commemorative bag. For 2007 the official Grammy post party swag gift was a Tigi Fashionista Frenzy 5 piece hair care assortment in a custom case with a Grammy award seal.

The 49th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony took place on February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. In 2008 the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place. This will be a milestone for the GRAMMYs and the Recording Academy. It will take place on February 10, 2008 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
