   Back in the early ’90s, Windows was the most feature-complete GUI system for PCs, and worth its price, plus it was made by the same company as the most widely used DOS. People got attached to it. Now that they had the monopoly, Microsoft forced manufacturers to provide only Windows on their PCs. Macs were expensive. People only know Windows, so what competitors do they have? They don’t need to do a good OS, as long as it works and sells. Linux is getting bigger, so far Microsoft just ignores it.
